Werewolves...oh my!
If you followed the
link from Sue Holston's site, thank you. The Next Big Thing Blog Hop features an author each week and they tag a friend, who answers the same set of questions. Last week was Sue's turn, this week's it's mine.
Since I don't have a backlist of books (my first novella is coming out in January), I am going to offer up a $10 Amazon gift certificate as a giveaway prize if you follow me on Twitter or Blogspot. Please leave your name/e-mail address if you'd like to be entered in the contest and say which social media site you clicked on.
Thank you for stopping by!
The Questions:
What is the working title of your book?
Possession is 9/10ths
of the Law
Where did the idea come from for the book?
My co-writer Holly originally came up with the concept when she was in a
graduate screenwriting class. She wanted to have a paranormal unit within a
police department. We played with the idea and came up with one character being
a werewolf, the other a human. While they aren’t in a paranormal unit, some of
the upper elite in the Baltimore Police Department do know of the existence of
such creatures.
What genre does your book fall under?
Supernatural M/M mystery-romance.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
This is always a
hard question for me because I have very specific ideas about what characters
look like and movie makers rarely get it right. However, since I have to
choose, I’ll go with Ian Somerholder as Dylan and a young-ish Robert Redford as Logan.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
Veteran detective
Logan Robinson has a secret; he’s a werewolf, and after a night of sex, his
younger partner, Dylan, is about to find out the hard way how the disease is
transmitted.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
We are hoping our
current publisher; Total E Bound (TEB) will option this one!
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I can’t answer this
since we haven't finished it, but we've been working on it since July.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
We’re hoping to
write a unique werewolf universe that won’t compare with any other book.
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
My co-writer, Holly.
I’ve been a fanfiction writer for over 15 years and never seriously considered
writing professionally until Holly asked me to write a short story with her. I
agreed, and I’m excited to say that our story, “Doctor, Doctor,” will appear in
the anthology Emergency Services coming out in January by TEB.
When Holly asked me
if I wanted to write a werewolf novel with, I jumped at the chance. When we
were in New Orleans
on vacation, we started talking about our next book in which we delve into the
world of vampires. If it hadn’t been for Holly, I doubt I’d be doing this now.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
Hopefully, it’s a
new take on werewolf mythology mixed with an interesting homicide case and it’s
sexy to boot!
